ABOUT YOUR WHEELS COACH – Bex Cleary

‘ Sports and dogs have always been my life and, since I was 10 and managed to eventually wear my parents down to get my first dog, I have always combined the two in my life. On the human side I’ve gone down the sports science route culminating in an MSc in Clinical Exercise Science and I am a Clinical Physiologist. I also am a fully qualified Level 4 PT and train a number of clients weekly, both in person and online.

I have also combined my love of dogs into my qualifications and have my level 3 canine hydrotherapy award plus I am a Certified Canine Athlete Specialist and have nutritional qualifications for both dogs and humans.

I have 14 dogs that live with me ranging in ages from four to sixteen and seven of these also compete in harness sports. They all live in the house with me and are pets first and sport dogs second. I started doing canisports before I even knew they existed with my dogs always accompanying on my training runs for football and cricket.

I have competed across all the disciplines from canicross to 4 dog rig. Internationally I compete in bikejor and scooter events. My first International competition was in Poland in 2018 and since then I have always managed to place within the top 10 Internationally and was even lucky enough to come home with a gold medal from Pledran in 2022.

Training each component individually and putting the parts together to improve the team is a passion of mine. I love the fact that this sport is a partnership between you and your dog and building up an understanding with each other with every session – whether this is by yourself, in a group or racing – and ultimately enjoying time outside with your four legged best friend.’

Workshop Reviews

Read about these athletes’ experiences at the canicross workshop…

I can’t recommend this workshop enough, my running improved immediately after putting Sarah’s tips into practice. And she knows about everything! Technique, equipment (I had no idea I knew NOTHING about shoes) programming, rest, nutrition…. Best of all? She inspired me so much to get better, am putting in a training run regularly, dogless!

I really enjoyed the canicross workshop with Sarah and particularly loved the practical sessions. Running individually as well as with the rest of the group was a great way for us to bond together and practice what we had learnt within the theory sessions.

The theory had great content and I learnt new things.

Sarah is very passionate about her sport and her dogs and it shines through within this workshop.

The only negative I have is that it wasn’t a 2 day workshop as I feel I could have learn even more with additional time.

If you have been thinking about it, go for it! You won’t regret it. Fun and learning all rolled into one.

A fantastic day of canicross and theory in a welcoming environment with a knowledgable host.
